2012 Hall of Fame

In April the Small Face, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan, and a long awaited one for me Guns N' Roses will all be inducted in the Hall of Fame.

I'm especially estatic that GNR will be inducted. One mystery still left is will the classic GNR lineup reunite to play at the ceremony? I sure hope so but I'm not holding my breath. Although it is traditional for bands to play at the induction. I just wonder if Slash and Axl can put their differences aside for at least for just one night.

I'm waiting for Kiss, E.L.O., Ringo Starr (as a solo artist), Dick Dale, Todd Rundgren and Harry Nilsson to get in.

I've never heard Ringo as a solo artist but I'm pretty sure he'd be good, but can he be inducted a second time even if it's a different band?

Several artists are in as band members and solo artists (including all the other Beatles), or as members of two different bands (Stephen Stills is in for Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills and Nash). One person has been inducted three times-Eric Clapton (for the Yardbirds, Cream and as a solo act). Ringo wasn't on the same level as the other Beatles (who is?), but he has made 32 albums since the 1970 breakup, and he was the first Beatle to get a #1 hit single (post-Beatle), 1973's "Photograph". Check out his 1973 album, Ringo, for his most hit filled disc (it also contains contributions from all three of the other Fabs), some of his more recent work is also high quality.

Wow I didn't know you could be inducted so many times. Also I didn't know that Eric Clapton was in the Yardbirds, isn't that the band Jimmy Page was in?

Well I learned that a band/artist isn't eligible until 25 years after the release of their first single or album. This was GNR's first year eligible. They are among few artists to be inducted their first year of eligibility.

Beastie Boys still haven't been inducted yet!?

Guess not. Also I read that the induction ceremony is in march not April. I guess we'll have to wait a little longer to find out for sure.

Beastie Boys are actually with a few others I didn't mention. And the induction ceremony will be April 14 and will air on HBO. I got this information from some official looking site not for sure though.
