This is my 1st post on the site so if theres a better place to post this feel free to say so. Thanks
I have several questions about song mixing. Im really interested in making it a hobby.
First heres what I want to be able to do -
Take beats (instrumentals) from hip hop or dance songs and combine them with vocals (acustic versions) from other songs.
Make my own beats.
My questions are in the realm of how to get started -
1. What strength of a computer do I need?
2. What programs are best for each thing I want to do? Dubturbo???
3. What are the best sources on the internet for each version of a song?
4. Do I need certain 'versions' like wav files vs mp3's?
5. Finally, how do I get finished songs to say my ipod?
Thanks for anything.
I recommend Reaper(recording software). It should run on just about any system and will utilize more power if needed. One of my friends ran it fine on an AMD K6 PC with Win 98. Google Reaper and try out the 60-day trial, if you like it...its 60$ for a non-professional license.
As for getting your songs to an mp3 player...Reaper can render your finished songs to Mp3, Wav, Ogg or whatever you wish.
