I was wondering if anyone could help me. While watching Coco and Igor, the Stravinsky character made his own staff paper. He used an instrument dipped in ink then rolled it across the paper. Can anyone help me figure out what this instrument would be called? My boyfriend is a composer and I think this would make a great christmas present. Thanks!

I'm sure you realize that no one does that anymore-most successful composers don't even ink their own notation, much less the staves. Everything's computers these days-not like in my day...well anyway. It sounds like a good gift for a man of leisure with more time on his hands than he needs. Does he really hand-write his musical notes? Does he own Gardner Read's Music Notation (the bible on the subject)?
