I don't really like his music but I find him to be hilarious as a person. He actually used to write a very entertaining column for Esquire magazine.

Hmmm...I'm not really one of his fans so I can't really tell.
Though I liked his song, "Your Body is Wonderland".
Besides, that's the only original song I remember him by. ;P

He is a decent (actually above average) guitarist (though a bit of a Stevie Ray Vaughan clone-so he doesn't seem as original as he could be). Of course he started his career as basically a pop-singer (with stuff like Wonderland), and though he has been trying to distance himself recently with more blues/rock material, it's hard to accept that change as sincere (though I think it probably is). Also he's all tall and handsome, so that makes a lot of the male audience jealous. And he sleeps with just about every beautiful female celebrity on the planet (= jealousy, plus he seems like a bit of a man-whore=more jealousy). He gave a bad interview to RollingStone Magazine and came off as a cocky douche and a racist (I'm not sure he's really a racist, but he almost certainly a cocky douche), but yes, he can write a decent pop song, and he can play a reasonable facsimile of Stevie Ray Vaughan-so he has some talent, too.
