Britney Spears Vs. Lady Gaga

Who was better when they first came out? Britney Spears or Lady Gaga?

Well here's how I see it:

Britney Spears:
Britney when she first came in with the first album ...Baby One More Time it did instantly very well and it sell over 26 million copies. It spawned three big hits. ...Baby One More Time (No.1), You Drive Me Crazy (No.10), and Sometimes (No. 21). The other 2 faired decently and certainly catchy.

Britney with her second album Opps...I Did It Again followed the success with 20 million copies sold. The album got three big hits again. But the second album failed to get a top 5 hit. Although it's title track went to No.9. It was a minor disappointment but certainly another international success like ...Baby One More Time. Other songs like Lucky went to No. 23 and Stronger to No. 11. Catchy also which was pretty good.

Lady Gaga:
Gaga first came in with her first album The Fame which did commercially very well. It spawned 4 big hits. The first being Just Dance which sell 7.7 million copies the single going No.1. Poker Face was even a bigger success. Poker Face so far remains her biggest hit of her career which went No.1 and sell over 9.8 million copies. Her next songs LoveGame and Paprazzi hit both the top 5 and top 10. As LoveGame went to No. 5 and Paprazzi went to No. 6. Well so far the album sold with 14 million in sales. She had 4 hits as Britney had 3 and only two were top 10. Oddly both Just Dance and Poker Face were No.1's. So far Gaga could be better.

With the second album The Fame Monster which is following the success that The Fame had and it spawned 3 hits. Although the songs failed to go No.1 it managed to have 3 top 5 singles from this Extended Play and second major release. The first one was Bad Romance which went to No. 2 and is second biggest single so far which sold over 9.7 million copies. Certainly this mega hit should have been No.1. Also, her Beyonce Colloboration of Telephone was also another mega hit going to No. 3 and sold over 7.4 million copies worldwide the single. The other song that was a mega top 5 hit was Alejandro which went to No. 5 and it did commercially well as well. Certainly Gaga is better than Britney in terms of them first coming out although Gaga has sold according wikipedia 55 million records wordwide which I think they include them by singles wise. I think The Fame Monster has sold 10 million in sales so far who knows.

All in All I think Gaga is better than Britney because Gaga has more Grammys wins and nominations than Britney. Which is odd although Britney has sold more records than Gaga but certainly she will be their in a few to sell over 100 million records as long as she doesnt do crazy stuff that Britney does. Please stay clean Gaga and of course Britney.

When they first came out?

Gaga was certainly more original and unique, but Britney is a legend. My personal belief is that Lady Gaga will disappear in a few years since her new album is going downhill both in production quality and ideas.

Britney Spears was the sweet heart of America, the ideal image of sexy yet cute.

Lady Gaga was original and fun but way outrages. In some aspects ms gaga's outrages outfits are a trend and fun however in an other aspect it's not what the public can pull of everyday. She is truly talented and I don't believe she'll go down easy.

I think Britney killed it when she went crazy, it really killed the "American Dream Girl" we all thought she was. Now she's just blah...

I'm going to pick Britney cause even she's crazy she is considered normal when compared to Lady Gaga.

This is a tough question because both started out with a bang and kinda have been going downhill for me. Britney was the "it" but notice how her albums have been decreasing in sales over the years. Lady Gaga bursted into fame but she has not really been impressing me lately with her bizarre/intensely sexual music videos. Nonetheless, the question is, would there be a Lady Gaga if there wasn't a Britney?
