1. Madonna has performances that actually make you think and she has the best selling tour for a solo artist of all time.
2. Michael Jackson couldn't make a good album after Bad though I do think HiStory was a bigger improvment from Dangerous.
3. Madonna has Immaculate Collection, Like A Prayer, Ray of Light and Music which were all on Rolling Stone's Greatest Albums Of All Time. Michael has Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad. (Bad didn't even deserve to be on the list since it was Thriller Part 2.)
4. Madonna took her critics and made herself better. Michael took his critics and made himself even worse.
5. This Is It was a disappointment. Madonna's movie Truth Or Dare for Blonde Ambition Tour was legendary.
6. Michael Jackson has never acted in a good movie. Madonna won a Golden Globe for Evita and some people say she deserved an Oscar Nomination.
7. Madonna was and is proud to be herself and not afraid to say anything. Michael wasn't.
8. Michael kept repeating himself while Madonna has done something new on every album.
9. Rolling Stone called Like A Prayer the closest pop music has ever gotten to art.
10. Madonna has songs about more deep topics like her mom's death, teen pregnancy, her childhood, etc. If Michael ever got serious it was always over the top or whiny.
But Michael's songs are just sooooOooO catchy.
I'm sorry, I like Madonna, but nowhere is she near as talented as Michael Jackson.
hmmm, this is a tough one. But my vote goes to Michael Jackson.
I have never fancied Michael Jackson...
Though now I feel vaguely embarrased by admitting I once fancied Madonna.....
I don't like either of them...
Well I prefer Michael Jackson, even if Madonna was a better performer, simply because I prefer his songs. I'm not one of the scary fans on here (who almost all seemed to appear after his death...) I just tend to prefer his songs to Madonnas. I know how much you love Madonna, so don't mean anything disrespectful by that
he is just best......
Not at all. MJ ftw
Both went downhill after the '80s
Neither was successful at marriage
Both highly visual, wouldn't have been as successful in pre-music video age
Both weirdly androgynous
Both had reputation of strange sexual peccadillos
Both were dancers more than singers
Both have connection to SE Michigan -Madonna is from there and Michael was with Motown
Both born within a few months of each other
Both from the American Midwest
one big difference-Michael was one of the greatest child artists of all time. I think the Jackson 5 era was his best along with his childhood solo albums-Madonna is a 2-hit wonder in my book (True Blue and Beautiful Stranger, btw).
Seems like apples and oranges to me!
